Sustainable use - alkus® formwork panel made of solid plastic
alkus AG has been supplying the alkus® formwork panel and specially designed accessories for almost 25 years. The plywood alternative made of solid plastic offers impressive robustness and resistance to water and UV light. It can also be repaired with the same material. These special properties ensure that it is particularly durable: up to 1,500 uses and more are possible with an alkus® panel. This also made it a sustainable and cost-effective option for construction projects of all kinds in 2024 - and alkus AG a popular partner worldwide.
Successful exhibition appearance: alkus AG at the World of Concrete
The year 2024 began for alkus AG with a visit to the World of Concrete in Las Vegas in January. The international trade fair for the commercial concrete and construction industry has been a firm place in the company's calendar for years. This year, alkus AG presented itself with a completely renewed trade fair appearance, which attracted numerous visitors and drew attention to the alkus® formwork panel.
Perfect concrete finish without changing the formwork facing: Tunnel de La Clusette project
The formwork facing from alkus AG was once again used successfully in many construction projects this year. Its use was also crucial in the “H10 - Tunnel de La Clusette” project: the Swiss tunnel has been undergoing renovation since 2021 and a safety tunnel is also being built parallel to the road tunnel. The contract to build this safety tunnel, including the connecting tunnels to the main tunnel, was awarded to Infra Tunnel, a construction company specializing in underground work. A perfect concrete finish was required, which is why the choice of formwork facing was crucial. In addition, only a panel that would easily adapt to the shapes could be used for the special formwork. Those responsible therefore decided to use the all-plastic alkus® GM6 panel for the formwork work on the safety tunnel and in some cases also on the connecting tunnels. The glass fiber-reinforced formwork facing is flexible but rigid, meets high surface requirements and is particularly durable. Its use was a complete success: thanks to the alkus® panel, the desired results could be achieved in all cases without changing the formwork facing.
Partnership with Compoform: Alliance in the international formwork and scaffolding market
An important step from a strategic perspective for alkus AG was the partnership entered into in 2024 with Dutch company Compoform B.V. - a leading specialist in scaffolding decking, among other things. Since then, alkus AG has also had a polypropylene scaffolding panel in its portfolio, the alkus CD panel, which can be used in all common systems. With this alliance, alkus and Compoform are also able to focus and further expand their commitment to quality and sustainability in the industry.
New partnerships with formwork manufacturers: Hory Korea, FHS and Encofrados
One of the new partners is Hory Korea, a manufacturer and service provider of scaffolding and formwork systems that has established itself as an important player in the South Korean construction industry and in Southeast Asia.
Formwork Hire Singapore (FHS), another new partner from the Asia-Pacific region, is a leading service provider in the region with extensive expertise in the field of formwork.
A third partnership was concluded with the Mexican formwork and service company Encofrados, whose target market is Mexico and the whole of Latin America.
2nd place: Product of the year 2024
alkus AG was also delighted with another success in the readers' award of Baugewerbe Magazin: the process for repairing the alkus® panel, with which it can be repaired without any loss of quality, took second place in the “Product of the Year 2024” competition in the “Construction” category. This renewed success shows that alkus AG's innovative products are seen and appreciated and is an incentive for the company to continue shaping the industry in the future.
